February? Seriously?

Sorry for the long pause, those of you who read this or who check here occasionally for Cotton Monster news! January has been a very slow month for me, meaning mostly that I am moving in SLOW MOTION! It seems since I left my studio for Christmas break, it now takes me twice as long to sew/accomplish anything!

I'm not saying nothing happened...a little trip to new york, a surprise visit from my beautiful sister and nephew (who incidentally just took his first solo steps across a room today!) I taught a bunch of kids to sew (now if I could only teach them to thread and knot their own needles), I've been working on some kitties wearing cute little shirts, trying to reboot monster stock (slowly), getting things ready for the tax man, chopping wood and all that jazz...but still I can't believe a month has come and gone so fast. I swear new years was yesterday!

This winter I re-found my old pal Meagan, who has traveled the world, experienced so much, and blossomed into quite an amazing woman and writer. You can find her insightful blog here: The Lady Who Lunches. A while back she tagged me with the duty of posting my "favorite photo of all time." This was weeks ago and I've been thinking of it ever since...but have come to the firm conclusion that it is a completely impossible task!!! There are just too many! I found myself digging through my shoe boxes of old photos and sorting through masses of digital folders on my computer, and there are just so many that I would never want to part with. Twenty-seven, going on twenty-eight, years on this earth = a whole lot of photos!

In high school I found an old roll of b&w film in a drawer and developed it in my photo class. This picture was amongst the shots on that roll; my brother, sister and I perched on an old big wheel bike in our front yard. Sticking with the theme of my life right now.. time flying by at record speed..I keep going back to this photo. My sister now has a baby of her own, about the same age as the baby she is holding up in the photo (Me!). Crazy and wonderful...

Just to be clear Meg-o...I'm not committing this one to favorite of all time!! But its up there on the list!

p.s. this one of Jay and I (taken by Brendan) was also pretty high in the ranks!

I just donated a mini bottomfeeder...not sure when it will go up for sale, the shop is being run by two dedicated mamas working as fast as they can with the donations coming in!

eye love you!

Just a quick note: to all who ordered the new 'love eyes' and other monsters friday, thanks so much! Because Monday is a holiday, your packages will ship out bright and early on Tuesday!

Also, I'm finishing up another little batch of hearts that I'll hopefully have up in the store later on today/this evening!

Did I mention each heart comes with this little drawing above? Well it does!

eye love you

never too early for love...?

Starting a new routine today, we'll see how long it lasts...get up early, go to the gym, drink tea while reading/posting blogs, emails etc, then get to work!! Today that work will be trying to edit photos and post up some of these early V-day hearts and a handful of little monsters (who just happen to be red and pink!) on Etsy! Check back later!

NYC

Had a nice jaunt to NYC this weekend, saw some fabulous shows at PS1 and the New Museum as well as some AMAZING art on the street by Brazilian super stars Os Gemeos (a detail of it pictured above). Ate good food and saw good friends. Despite the freezing weather and sore feet, we had a lovely time, and since we took the bus, didn't have to worry one bit about parking the car or paying tolls. Wanna see more pictures? Today I was busy sewing up some little valentine treats and a few kitty cats, and yes, of course some monsters! Hope to have them up in the next couple of weeks in time for Love day!

Happy New Year!

Thanks so much for an amazing 2009 everyone! I've been so lucky to have such wonderful friends, family and fans! What would I do without you?! Here's to a new year, new experiences, and new things I can't wait to try out! I've been keeping off the computer as much as possible lately in order to fit in as much family, friends, relaxing and fun as I could over the past couple weeks! I'm excited though to get back in the studio on Monday with some new ideas and plans!

Above is an pic of new years cards Jay and I silkscreened! For a few more photos of what I was up to over the holiday, check out my flickr!
