Where'd she go?

So, I have not fallen off the earth. I'm still here, and yes, i'm still making Cotton Monsters!!

I swear! They are coming slower than usual, as I've been preparing for this impending MOVE...the house, the studio, the cats, everything is getting boxed up and loaded out to our new place. Moving is one of the most stressful things I've encountered in my 26 years...and unfortunatley I do it every year or two. YIKES. In addition, I've been working pretty much full time at the puppet theater, and will be continuing that for the next two weeks! I'm in a state of flux, and just a wee bit batty at this point.

Anyway, the normal monthly shop update is not happening today....meaning what? I'll be planning to stock the ETSY shop in May. I'll let you know when i figure out if its going to be before or after the move. Don't give up on me yet!!! (please?)

Giant new monster....

I've been feverishly working on this Giant squid monster for an upcoming art show at the
Long Beach Island Foundation gallery in NJ. The show is entitled "Contemporary Repetition: Sculptural Media" and is happening May 24 - June 16, 2008...I'll post more info as it comes closer to the show. Traveling with this new giant will be about six or seven other normal sized cotton monsters!

Some weekend photos...

Just a few images from my weekend: the Nana Projects benefit on Friday night was magical. They transformed the already glorious st. john's church into a beautiful lounge with stilters, a magic lantern show, and delicious food by the soon-to-be-open resturant in Hamilton called Clemintine! Sunday's outdoor Transmodern Festival 'Pedestrian Service Exquisite' was bustling with unique activity, bringing tons of folks out to wander and parade around North Avenue.

Young Crafters/Zinesters Show and Tell next week

Did you know that Baltimore County Public Library has a Zine collection?? I didn't! But now that I am a better informed citizen, I now know all about it (well, maybe just a little) and am excited to be part of an event to bring awareness to this collection as part of the "Young Crafters/Zinesters Show and Tell + Zine and Craft Swap " (phew) happening next Thursday, April 17th at the Cockeysville branch of the BCPL!! Here's the info:

Join us at 6:00 to browse the zine collection and swap your zines and crafts. At 7:00 hear Kevin Sherry (Squidfire, I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean, CATATAC zine), Jennifer Strunge (that's me) (Cottonmonster, Charm City Craft Mafia), Ryan Cecil Smith (Closed Caption Comics) and Andrew Neyer(Closed Caption Comics) talk about their art and the zine and craft community in Baltimore.

The speakers will have wares for sale.** If you want to swap zines, mini-comics, crafts or information bring 'em on. But unless you are Kevin, Ryan, Jennifer or Andrew, no cash exchanges this evening - only trading.

**That said, I will only have a couple real live cotton monsters in tow, so don't get too excited....DO, however, come out and meet some cool Baltimore folks, trade info or stuff and browse the Zines!!

Visit the BCPL Zine Blog HERE!! For directions, event info and soooo much more!
